A Little More "Mermaids", A Little Less "Leave It to Beaver"

I fear that I may be giving you all the wrong impression. Yes, I can cook. Yes, I like to cook fresh, healthy meals. Yes, I made all of the recipes I've posted on this blog.

But the reality is, the ballerinas won't eat most of them. The other reality is, when BSD is home he is the one who cooks. He's really good too. Better than me. Unfortunately, he's not home for dinner often enough.

So if this is the image of me you have imprinted in your mind...

You need to replace it. Because dinner around here looks more like this...

than this...

Sad, but true.

Just keepin' it real.

First of all....love love love love (did I say, love?) Mermaids. The BEST. Brings back all kinds of memories. Thank you for that/

Second, Giada is freakin' gorgeous. She kills me. I don't think I'd even want to look like her 'cause I'd think I could run off with Brody Jenner or something and then what would become of me. Heartbreak. No thanks. And, if you actually looked like her then I'd just be your ugly friend and who wants that?

Third. Pigs in blankets? Yum yum. Big Brother's been asking for Crescent Rolls lately with dinner and I just couldn't figure out how to work 'em in. There's my hook.

Oh, and Husband's single request for our wedding? Pigs. In blankets. (He's sounding all kinds of chic today, isn't he? Haha.)

Oh my thank goodness someone else out there makes kid food too! Tonight we had bisquits, bbq chicken and grapes...my husband works evenings so what is the point of cooking a big fancy meal! I giggle at this! Too cute!

Chicken Nuggets, Frozen Pizza, Ramen Noodles....Why is it that kids want to eat those things?
I would have a big bowl of Cheese Puffs every night at dinner if I could get my kids to do all that setting the table, etc...in the Mermaids clip. So funny!
Hey...a least you had fresh strawberries.
Lovin' the realness! (made up word)

Oh that was fun! Hey, I use to make kids food for my son as he was wa picky eater. My daughter loved most everything from ribs, to brussels sprouts from the very beginning.

You have a great blog!

Kim, my kids are the pickiest eaters you could ever imagine, so the meal I see here STILL looks like a Giada spread to me!! yum yum!

I knew their was a reason why we were friends, lol! Hey the Schwans Man, he's a close personal friend of mine! I actually hate to cook and my sister loves to. I am being pampered because I'm eating such wonderful fresh meals since she is here. There is nothing wrong with your meal, I would even love it!

At least they will eat fresh fruit! Mine will eat apples (cut up only - one will only eat green, one will only eat red), grapes if forced. That's the extent of fresh fruit. I try to be a good example and eat it in front of them but no good. Doesn't work. Stupid experts. I've been eating fresh fruit and veggies in front of my kids and putting it on their plate encouraging (ok, threatening) them to try it for 9 years and it hasn't worked. Veggies - canned green beans & corn on the cob. Off the cob, no dice. Occasionally DS will eat steamed cauliflower. Yep. THAT is a Leave it to Beaver failure for ya!
