ten on ten: eight. ten. thirteen

It's been four months since I posted here. The time between posts keeps getting longer and longer. I'm not sure if that means the end is near. I have ideas for revamping this little slice of the interwebs of mine. But other activities always seem to take precedence. Important activities. Like Words With Friends. And Instagram.

And the fact that the last, I don't know, ten or so posts begin the same way makes me wonder. Should I continue? And if so. Why? If the answer is because it feels right. Then it will be. If the answer is anything else. Game over.

I'm not going to rehash the last four months. Those posts are boring. I don't think I could even sit and read all that. So I'll just keep the momentum going. And move forward. Even if this post is four five days old news already. Strike one. Strike two.

I was happy that the tenth fell on a Saturday. Saturdays are fun. Probably another reason that the last three months of ten on ten are left blank here. Must have fallen on weekdays. When none of my peeps are around to take pictures of. If I don't have someone to take a picture of my camera sits in the corner. Cast aside and neglected.

Heading out with my photo group to the botanical gardens a few weeks back really drove this point home for me. We were only allowed to take 36 photos. I think I took 14. I just could not find enough to photograph. One picture of a flower was enough for me. I need people. I need a story....

And with that being said. Here is the story of our August 10, 2013...

ten on ten: four. ten. thirteen.

Another month. Another ten on ten. Another lack of any. other. post. from me. My excuse is the same. We've been busy. And I've been lazy.

Last week was Spring Break. We didn't go away. But we filled each day with a family field trip. I guess we had ourselves a good ole-fashioned staycation. And as much as I'd like to say we jetted off to Colorado to ski. The ballerinas fell into bed each night exhausted. Said "THANK YOU!" for the daily dose of fun at least twice a day. And on Sunday they both exclaimed, "That was the best Spring Break ever!"

I could have blogged each day of that Spring Break. There were definitely memories worth preserving. But I was cheating. On my big girl camera. I left it at home (or in the car) 95% of the week. And like thousands of others. I used my camera phone to record it all. And Instagram (mawlovesbsd on Instagram) to share it. So much quicker and easier. Like using the microwave instead of the oven.

Is Instagram the new blog? Are blogs going to wind up at Good Will perched next to all the typewriters?

Well...as long as there's a tenth of the month, I'll still be here. I enjoy this project too much to give it up. And it's a good reason to dust off my Lightroom skills and keep them from getting too rusty.

Today was a typical Wednesday.

Drag self out of bed...

Get ballerinas off to school...

Get daily dose of torture...

Do the dishes...

Water the flowers (since we've bypassed Spring and fast-forwarded right to summer) ...

Take a shower...

Welcome ballerinas back home from school...

Get homework done...

Do chores... (she wants to earn $22 to buy four rolls of duct tape to "make crafts.")

Get ready for dance...

Practice what you learned at dance in all inappropriate places...

Until next month...

Ten on Ten: three. ten. thirteen

So...ten on ten falls on a Sunday again. Maybe I should just post the same ten pictures I did last month. Since Sundays around here are pretty much the same. Hanging out in our pj's for a good portion of the day.

BB catching up on her homework. In between snack breaks.

Me...trying to clean up the week's worth of living.

As LB moves from room to room making more messes.

Buster. He does his best to do whatever his sisters are doing.

In between asking to go in/out. in/out. in/out. all. day. long.

Oh...and BSD? MIA. Just like last month. This time leaving me to deal with a sick chick. Our poor Pearl has literally "cooped" herself up the past few days. Today I brought her out of the coop to discover she had crud practically cemented to one of her legs and her butt. So what is a good farmer to do?

Yep. Give the bird a bath.

Never in my life did I ever see myself bathing a chicken. Or wiping a chicken's butt. But today I did both. What's up? Chicken butt.

I definitely earned some kind of girl scout badge today. Or at least an honorary 4-H membership.

BB told me I was supposed to blow dry her after. According to the information she read on the internet. But I chose the old-fashioned, towel-dry method. Tried and true.

She's still not quite right. Her breathing is labored and she's not eating. So tonight she's in a cardboard box in our laundry room. Where it's warm and cozy. And maybe still a little messy. Since my Sunday cleaning ritual got all fowled up.

It is definitely time for a break.

Hope you all had a better Sunday than we did. To see what others were up to today, go here.

Ten on Ten: two. ten. thirteen.

February 10th. BSD's birthday. Perfect day for a Ten on Ten. Only problem? BSD is not home. So no birthday birthday cake. No decorations. No pretty wrapped packages in this set. Just a lazy Sunday at home. Doing laundry. Playing outdoors. Catching up on homework. Getting a haircut. Hanging with the puppy dog. Not the day it should have been. But a good one just the same.

January came and went in a flash. Every weekend was consumed with ballet summer intensive auditions. Four weekends. Four auditions. Driving either to Washington, DC or some city in North Carolina. It was fun. At first. By the fourth audition I was cooked. And so was BB. But the results are all in. The intensive has been chosen. And BB is already packing her bags. She's downloaded an app on her iTouch that counts down the days until she gets to go. Summer cannot get her soon enough as far as she's concerned. Exciting times.

Buster continues to be a major source of excitement in our house. He is bigger every morning. And smarter. And sweeter. He's already six months old. And wayyyyy too frisky. He's off to get snipped here in the next few weeks. Crossing our fingers that curbs his enthusiasm. I'm not used to having a boy. yeesh!

I am still waiting for the day that one of my family members is willing to get outdoors with me to let me play with my film cameras. I have a small stockpile of film and am chomping at the bit to explore with it. In the meantime, I'm trying to keep up with year two of my Project 365. But giving myself the freedom to use my iPhone as needed.

One of these days I hope to get back to this space more regularly again. But it's been a welcome break for me. I do miss it. But I also enjoy the freedom. Since I haven't had time to blog hop it hasn't felt right to post. I've been trying to keep up on Instagram. I'm mawlovesbsd. But I'm not sure I've found all of you. If you're on Instagram, and we haven't caught up, let me know how to find you in the comments.
