Rain, Rain, Go Away. Come Again, Another Day...

The weather here is all wack-a-doodle these days. Eighty degrees and sunny one day. Fifty and rainy the next. Shorts and tank tops on Monday. Sweaters and wellies by Thursday. Makes for way too much laundry. And too much laundry makes me tired.

All that laundry kicked my butt. I just couldn't keep my eyes open any longer. Good thing it was one of those rainy days today. So I was able to catch a little afternoon nap.

Yep. I'm sure it was the laundry that knocked me up out. I'm sure it had nothing to do with our lunch date today. BSD and I went out for Mexican.

He had a quesadilla.

I had fajitas.

We came home for dessert. And a nap. I'm telling you. That laundry WORE ME OUT. Unfortunately, our nap only lasted about 20 minutes. And then the ballerinas were due home. Major buzz kill.

So later this evening as BSD was carrying his pile of clean clothes upstairs, he turned to me and said, "Let's do that again the next time it rains."

"Sounds good to me," I replied. "But let's go EARLIER. I need more than a 20 minute nap."

"Oh, yeah. Good idea," he answered. "Do you think they open at 11am?"

Eleven Years Ago Today...

Today is the Big Ballerina's birthday. Eleven. Two more years and she'll be a teenager. Scary stuff.

We were teasing her this morning that eleven years ago today we brought her home from the store. PetSmart. Found her in the monkey section. Because of her big gangly feet. She was on sale. Because she had no hair. What good is a monkey without hair?

Luckily the girl is a good sport. And she thought this was funny. I'm sure in two years. When she's a teenager. She won't be laughing at anything we say. Eye rolls and dirty looks will probably be on the menu then. Not looking forward to those days.

It didn't hurt that she was still high from the night before. When she received this card.

That explained what her gift would be.

And then the tonsils really came out. When she realized she was going to get it NOW!

Happy Birthday, Big Ballerina! I love you bigger than my bicycle AND my camera!
Next year braces?!?!

Sham Rock On

Joy of Luck assignment today? Green. Took this one to the extreme. Green is actually my favorite color, but this photo makes me kind of queasy. It definitely looks like we threw up all over ourselves.
Today we ran the Shamrock 8k race. My sister is funny. Growing up she was the anti-exerciser. She did nothing athletic. Made fun of anyone who ran. Fast forward many years. She is now a "runner." So much so that she flew down from Connecticut to run this race. It was her first 8k. Her husband was very supportive. So much so that we are sporting not one head covering. But two. Erin go braugh.

I am not a runner. I run occasionally but it is not my "sport." I did this for my sister. We had a training schedule. I followed it. Faithfully. For about a week. Then life got in the way.

Even so, we managed to pull this off. You can see in the picture that my legs are quite a bit longer than hers. She worked a lot harder to go the distance. When the finish line was in sight. And she was ready to collapse. I reached out for her. And we ran together. Crossing the finish line. Hand in hand. 60 minutes. 13 seconds.

Joy of Luck: Gift

I'm back! I am so excited that Willette is offering another free class this month. The Joy of Luck. This one is a quickie. About a week or so. Anyone care to join me?

Today's assignment was "Gift." Something in your life that you are so lucky to have. That you take for granted. At first I was going to photograph gummy vitamins. Because I am so grateful that those are the strongest drugs anyone in our house needs. That we are all healthy. Such a gift. BUT...I was too superstitious to do that. I am afraid putting that out there into the universe would suddenly strike us down with illness. Cancer is still on my mind daily. It is my biggest fear these days. So...I decided not to tempt fate and went in a different direction for this assignment.

The beach. I can hop on my sweet cruiser and I'm on the beach in less than two minutes. Such a gift. So many days as we're relaxing on the beach BSD and I look at one another in amazement and say, "We are so LUCKY to live here!"

It's almost beach weather. Pretty soon we'll be able to do this minus the long sleeves and long pants. I can't wait!

Ten on Ten: Colorado Camera Phone Edition

March. In like a lion. Out like a lamb. That's how this month goes in our household. Not talking about the weather. But the pace.

The first week was swallowed up whole by the Big Ballerina's Sleeping Beauty ballet. Sewing. Rehearsing. Performing.

The second week gets devoured by a Rocky Mountain high. Skiing. Skating. Swimming. Swigging.

LB turns seven on the 11th. BB turns 11 on the 23rd. And on the 18th is the Shamrock 8k. For which I have completely fallen off the training wagon.

The last week should be much gentler on our schedule. Hopefully, I'll be able to catch up with all of you then.

Here's my Ten on Ten for March. Ten pictures. Over ten hours. On the tenth of the month.
