Snow day. A real one. Actual snow on the ground. Not a ton. But enough to warrant cancelling school. Very rare down here. So it was even more exciting!

Ballet Audition #3.
Left the house at 6am.
Made it to DC before 10am.
Audition was at 1pm.
Only 16 girls this time.
Great inspiring teacher.
Challenging combinations.

Pit stop at IKEA.
I came out all smiles.
Dinner stop at a favorite Drive-Thru.
Back home by 10pm.
I carried my camera in my bag the entire time.
And never took a single photo.

ahhhh...Saturday. Horse lessons. A nice respite each week.
The Little Ballerina got a new horse today. Puffin. He is a BIG boy. Made it hard to tack him. LB couldn't reach the top of his head to put his bridle on. I could barely reach it myself. Luckily, he is a gentle giant. And LB rode him like a champ.
Thank you, Puffin.

Needed to take a head shot for one of the Big Ballerina's friends today. Practiced on the only model available. Me.
Out of focus selfie. With yummy light. And messy garage.
Some days you just gotta go with what you've got...

So I'm probably the last person on the planet who still watches movies on DVD. But in case I'm not. And you still use the RedBox machines like I do. Let me help you out.
If you rent Turbo on Sunday. And return Barbie: Princess Charm School on Monday. Then find Turbo in your DVD player the following Sunday. And have no case to return it in. Here is what you do...

Once upon a time there was a hen named Cocoa. She was a beautiful bird with dark, rich, iridescent feathers. And she laid the most delicious chocolate eggs.
One day, Cocoa lost a feather. The next day, she lost two feathers. On the third day, there were three black feathers in the bottom of the coop. This continued until, Cocoa was almost bald. She remained half bald for months. And months. And Kimhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01648861548786258875noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-483633839255984734.post-1164993559510185512014-01-13T09:47:00.001-05:002014-01-13T09:47:49.960-05:0012.365
Sundays in January mean ballet summer intensive auditions. Today was audition #2 for the Big Ballerina.
This was the first audition BB has done where all ages (12-18) audition together. Intimidating.
Add in the fact that there were 117 others auditioning with her.
Intimidating.
And stressful.
Add in the fact that the Artistic Director was the one teaching the audition class. EXCITING!
And Kimhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01648861548786258875noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-483633839255984734.post-85334168210836520112014-01-11T18:04:00.001-05:002014-01-11T18:04:08.595-05:0011.365
Horse lessons are still going strong. I think this is what the Little Ballerina looks forward to the most each week. She is fearless once she's ON her horse, but actually tacking the horse? That's another story. I am hoping as she gets bigger, the horses won't seem as looming, and she will relax a bit more.

Keeping up with this is going to be interesting. I haven't posted here in so long that when asked to enter my password, I was completely stumped.
And in keeping with my track record of biting off more than I can chew, I attempted to do Ten on Ten this month. I think I may have taken 5 pictures. Most of them sucked. So that project went out the window. I now have pictures in all kindsKimhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01648861548786258875noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-483633839255984734.post-42674855175358972712014-01-09T21:12:00.003-05:002014-01-09T21:12:47.133-05:009.365
Am I going to do this? I committed to doing it on Instagram. That's easy. But here? In this space. Can I commit to coming back here on a regular basis? Can I commit to a photo each day with my "big girl" camera? I don't know. But I'll give it a whirl.
The last 8 days don't count....

It's been four months since I posted here. The time between posts keeps getting longer and longer. I'm not sure if that means the end is near. I have ideas for revamping this little slice of the interwebs of mine. But other activities always seem to take precedence. Important activities. Like Words With Friends. And Instagram.
And the fact that the last, I don't know, ten or so posts begin the Kimhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01648861548786258875noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-483633839255984734.post-62546030569578012772013-04-10T23:06:00.001-04:002013-04-11T08:25:33.957-04:00ten on ten: four. ten. thirteen.
Another month. Another ten on ten. Another lack of any. other. post. from me. My excuse is the same. We've been busy. And I've been lazy.
Last week was Spring Break. We didn't go away. But we filled each day with a family field trip. I guess we had ourselves a good ole-fashioned staycation. And as much as I'd like to say we jetted off to Colorado to ski. The ballerinas fell into bed each night Kimhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01648861548786258875noreply@blogger.com10tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-483633839255984734.post-33387190591352405182013-03-10T22:10:00.000-04:002013-03-10T22:10:25.655-04:00Ten on Ten: three. ten. thirteen
So...ten on ten falls on a Sunday again. Maybe I should just post the same ten pictures I did last month. Since Sundays around here are pretty much the same. Hanging out in our pj's for a good portion of the day.
BB catching up on her homework. In between snack breaks.
Me...trying to clean up the week's worth of living.
As LB moves from room to room making more messes.
Buster. HeKimhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01648861548786258875noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-483633839255984734.post-32127233084903108062013-02-11T20:48:00.000-05:002013-02-11T20:49:46.705-05:00Ten on Ten: two. ten. thirteen.
February 10th. BSD's birthday. Perfect day for a Ten on Ten. Only problem? BSD is not home. So no birthday birthday cake. No decorations. No pretty wrapped packages in this set. Just a lazy Sunday at home. Doing laundry. Playing outdoors. Catching up on homework. Getting a haircut. Hanging with the puppy dog. Not the day it should have been. But a good one just the same.
January came and went Kimhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01648861548786258875noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-483633839255984734.post-68244022781319546192012-12-10T20:53:00.000-05:002012-12-10T22:05:42.311-05:00twelve. ten. twelve.
And another month rolls around with barely a word from these parts. I've been consumed with other things. Like not Christmas shopping. Not exercising. Not eating right. Oh, and not blogging. Good thing I'm committed to these Ten on Ten posts. Or there'd be nothing but crickets around here.
We all managed to survive Nutcracker season. The ballerinas much more so than me, I must say. These Ten on Ten post titles crack me up.

"of course I can count to twelve."
"nine. ten. twelve."
"er...ten. ten. twelve."
"no wait...eleven. ten. twelve. Yes. That's it... eleven. ten. twelve."

This Ten on Ten introduces a new member of our family. We got a new puppy over the weekend. Not sure how that happened. My family must have slipped something into my Diet Coke. Because we've been there. Done that. Before. And it didn't end well.
I think I was lulled into it by a gorgeous four hour drive into the country. And the prospect of a new model. Luckily, he's quite photogenic. And at 8 Kimhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01648861548786258875noreply@blogger.com19tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-483633839255984734.post-7418326962165326092012-09-21T13:03:00.001-04:002012-09-21T13:05:50.066-04:00in an octopus' garden...under a new shade
Remember the art work BSD made for the Big Ballerina out of the old fence pickets? Well...we promised the Little Ballerina that she would get one too. We didn't want the same design so we asked her what she wanted. Her reply...
"a lavender octopus on a green background"
Alrighty then.
A lavender octopus on a green background you shall get.
BSD is the bomb!

Holy smokes! The summer flew by. Lazy days drifted away one by one. And here we are. In September. Back to school. Back to reality. Back to blogging.
I'm not going to bore you with a recap of what we did all summer. Nope. I'm going to look ahead. Move forward. And dip my blogging foot back into the pond with a Ten on Ten post today.
