Bi-Polar...

I love living at the beach. I really do.

Sitting in our beach chairs, watching the ballerinas play in the ocean, there isn't a beach day that goes by where BSD and I don't turn to each other and say, "How lucky are we?!?!"

It's a lifestyle. An easy-going, laid-back way of living. It fits. And I love it.

But...

every now and then...

I miss the snow.

I know. Shoot me.

I grew up in New York. And went to college in Vermont. I know snow. I know the dirty, slushy mess it leaves inside the front door. I know scraping the windshield in the frigid temperatures. I know about black ice. And sliding off the road. Tapping the brakes gently like I was taught. To no avail.

I know better.

But then I get these damn Sundance catalogs and all that I know. And have. Goes out the window.

I want to be that girl. Looking so cozy and chic at the top of a snowy mountain.

Romping around in my cute, fur-lined Sorels.

Snowshoeing with a big, slobbery St. Bernard. And dressing like an adult version of Cindy Lou Who.

Yes. I miss the snow. And the mountains.

Damn you, Robert Redford.

Hurry up and send me the summer catalog.

You are soo funny! That post made me laugh out loud! It's nice to have a bit of snow now and then to break things up a bit. But, one day of snow is enough for me. In the UK if we get snow it seems the whole system messes up and no one seems to be able to cope!

I'm all about that damn Sundance catalog. Love everything in it. Come visit me..we just got snow..more tomorrow. :)
Do you drink bourbon? Manhattans are my drink of choice now... It's all the Mad Men I've been watching. I'll make you one!

I have those very boots!
And we are expecting our first real snow overnight- not counting the Halloween fluke. And once it turns ugly, which happens fairly quickly in Philly, all I want is to head to the beach... You are a lucky girl!

We're expecting our first snow overnight too...blech! Maybe that's the key to enjoying the cold winter....cute winter outfits...I never knew! Someday....someday...I will be lucky like you and live near the beach!

Oh girl. You have gone crazy. Just a reminder that those beautiful snowy scenes were probably shot with a backdrop in a LA studio 'cause we all know real snow life is not pretty. Unless you live where I do. And you can drive a few hours to the snow on a sunny day and then drive back home to where it never freezes. Been away from the east coast for 10 years and I have to say I don't miss it. But I would consider a house swap with you to be so close to the ocean.

We just got snow this week. You can come and visit (and shovel) any time you like!

Funny how the grass is always greener....I can get snow shots without going very far, but there is no beach in sight. I wish I lived close to the water and the year round sun!

Well, I can totally relate. I loved living at the beach, but then would see photos of fall or pumpkins or lattes or scarves and boots and I would pine away. Maybe the beaches in New England would serve us better?

We just got our first big snowfall this season,we too had that halloween fluke. I hate snow but I live in New England so I need to just suck it up and deal but burr is it cold!

We live near the beach, but a cold one this time of year. Before the kiddos, and even after them occasionally, we've talked of chucking it all for the Keys or San Diego, but here we are. And it snowed last night. I'll take one or two storms, but will be envious of your sunshine come March!

careful what you wish for, kim ... beach definitely outweighs mountains in my book - so hold on tight to that beach lifestyle and just visit the mountains every once in a while to get it out of your system!!

btw - fabulous sundance choices here ... oh, the $ I could blow at that store, isn't it the best?!!

Yep, this confirms it...we're definitely soul sisters! Reading this was like hearing myself think out loud...the only difference is you live at the beach and I only dream of living on a beach...someday, someday!

I grew up in Michigan. Lived there until 5.5 years ago. I do NOT miss the snow! LOL. I would much rather sit in a beach chair at the ocean and watch my kids play in the waves ;-)
