Fish Sticks

We did our fair share of thrifting this summer. Lots of fun finds to share. But one of my favorite scores was a pallet of old fence pickets. I'd been hoping to find some of these for a good long time. Ever since I spied some that were turned into fish.

Luckily, BSD is getting pretty darn handy with the woodworking tools these days. And he was able to make these....

From these...

Well...not all by himself exactly. Nope, we had a little help from our friends. In the form of a Fish Sticks and Friends Fiesta.

We set out some tables. And some paints. And some drinks. Of course. And went to town.

The ballerinas and their friends got busy too.

There may have even been some input from a chicken or two.

And when the sun went down. We moved the party indoors. We wanted to serve fish sticks for dinner. But spaghetti and peach cobbler seemed a whole lot easier.

And a lot more fun too.

I love these little guys! They are so bright and happy.

Luckily, we still have enough pickets to make....oh, say another 200 or so. Anyone wanna come over for a Fish Stick Fiesta?

I think I need to live in a beach city. We don't have cool stuff like that here in the desert.

My favorite picture is your daughter holding the chicken. Way cute.

- and by the way...so happy to hear that your master bath is a mess.

It's a fish painting party....love how the big boys got involved. Wouldn't you know it - I happen to have a pile of old fence boards sitting in my backyard. I had them pegged to become bird houses - but you never know - fish might just show up. they are so fun and colorful - love it!

I would love to! That looks like great fun! When's the next party?

What a cute idea... I am so not an idea person. If you tell me what you want, I can do it, but I can never think up the things to do!

Total neighbor envy.

I have a 972 year old woman on one side and a Verizon shack on the other. Awesome.

These are awesome...and the craft party looks even more fun!
Will there be an etsy shop selling fish sticks soon?
And yes...schedule a crafting party for next May and we will so be there!

I love this project? I may have to use new boards as I don't have weathered ones. Could you tell me the dimensions? What type of paint is the gray...just a wood primer? Do you use a spray on finish on these after painting if hanging outdoors? Love to make these for our new beach house this summer with family.

HI, I just love these, but, is there anyway you can show me the process of converting the fence into the fish.

Thank you.
