One Down, 179 to Go

So today was the first day of school. Luckily, the prophecy of the whack pair of purple Chucks did not prove to be true. And luckily, we had another pair to wear instead.

The Little Ballerina woke up in a good mood. Put on the outfit she chose the night before. Minus the purple Chucks. And happily posed for a picture holding up one finger to signify first grade. Had she not been happy I'm sure she would have chosen an alternate finger for the picture.

She was even nice to the Big Ballerina.

Quite possibly because BB threatened to tell the principal if she wasn't. Since she's now a narc. And quite proud of it I might add.

LB waited for the bus.

Humored me by posing for another picture.

And off she went to her first FULL day of school.

She returned at the end of the day still smiling. Her behavior book proudly displaying its first sticker of the year. Once inside the door, she stripped off her backpack, her shoes and her socks. She trudged up the 13 stairs to the playroom. And laid down on the couch.

Five minutes later this is how we found her.

She remained in that position for the next two hours. Boy, it's tiring to be GOOD for 6 1/2 whole hours!

One Down, 179 to Go.

Being a teacher and a parent, I love this post in more ways than one.

Kudos to your ballerinas.

The finger part made me laugh out loud. Ha!

My first grader didn't fall asleep after the first day, but she sure did complain about how l.o.n.g. it was!!

My son was standing over my shoulder as I read your post...he noticed right away that your little ballerina is on bus 6...just like he is!
Looks like they had a great first day....179 isn't too bad right? I think we will just count down until the weekend!

love the couch picture!!! A blankie is so very comforting after a long day at school!

Glad the shoe prophecy wasn't fulfilled!

Love love love the blankie. And the ballerinas get prettier every day. Haha.

Big Brother amazed me by acting entirely NOT tired all night. As though nothing momentous had just transpired in the form of a first day in Kindergarten. I was shocked.

Then, he slept until 7:30 this morning. School's at 8.

We're not quite jiving this new routine yet.

That picture of her on the couch may be the most adorable thing I've seen ever. Kids just kill me. (Not literally, of course.)

oh how I wish my 1st grader (and 3rd grader and preschooler) would take a nap. I NEED A NAP, too!

Love the purple chucks--are you going to get more purple with a right foot?

Thanks for your visit and leaving sweet comments. It's always lovely to 'meet' someone new. Your LB seems to be a of a very similar spirit to my Miss Nearly 7. Glad to see your shoe disaster was averted!
Have a super weekend.

Oh my, I can't believe there were 2 left shoes in your box. I would have been pissed! Ok this is too funny because you have a first grader and so do I. They sound very much alike except for the coming into the door and crashing. Mine would never go to bed if I didn't drag her up there. Mine comes home and says I pulled a card today! Yep, not good. And she doesn't even mind, grrrrr! I just bought that purple shirt the other day, too cute!

How cute is your Safety Patrol gal? Hmm a narc. So glad my kids are using that, yet I might add!

Hope they have another great day!

Megan
P.S. go have a pumpkin spice lattee, they are so yummy!
