I did it! I took a family portrait in July. And as usual I waited until the very last minute. July 32nd to be exact.
On Sunday we hopped in the car and headed for the Outer Banks. We didn't have a plan. Just load up and drive. We ended up in Manteo. It's a sweet little waterfront town with loads of charm. Art galleries and home decor shops tucked here and there on cobblestone streets. Unfortunately, they were all closed. Since it was a Sunday. And we didn't figure out where the town center was until after 5pm.
But we did manage to find an ice cream shop that was open.
See the pretty lighthouse.
Drink in the beauty of the ocean.
Do a little swinging.
And take our July family photos.
Hurray!

I adore that black & white of you hugging your man.
Too sweet!
The others are pretty rad too. :)
i love the b&w, too and the first family one...good for you! unfortunately, i don't have such luck with the whole timer thing!
Thanks, ladies! The Big Ballerina shot the hugging pix. She's not too shabby with a camera. :)
Amy- There are a slew of timer failures to go along with these. But the ballerinas think it's fun to use the timer. BB was proud of my "Starfish jump" here. Didn't realize it had a name. :) The rest I'm crouched down like a Sumo wrestler!
Love all of these.
We have been wanting a family photo for oh so long!!
You have motivated me to dig out the directions for the timer! :)
Enjoy the day
These are the most fun family shots I've ever seen! Now I want my girls to get older so we can do something like this.
so impressive!! I love ALL the photos and am now very motivated to try for a family photo (haven't had one in 2 years, yikes!) ... well done, love it!!
LOVE your family pics!!! Wonderful :))
i love the ones of the two of you!! The lighthouse looks like it is a movie prop it is so perfect.
Gorgeous pictures! They look professional! You're very talented : )
Beautiful shots, your skills are amazing!
How about a trip to Corolla in about two weeks?
SS-That's where we were headed, but the turn-off road was bumper to bumper so we went straight instead to Manteo. We will definitely take another road trip if it means we get to meet the famous SS! Email me. I lost your email address.
Love Manteo! Haven't been since I was little!
Your pictures are so much fun!
We love to jump in pictures too!
Have a great day!
I'm in the Outer Banks now, how funny! I'm assuming you used a tripod? Your pictures turned out great!
We just hit Manteo too...arrived the town center at 4:45!! :) LOL We looked in many a window wishing we could go inside! Still had a great time too...great meal with good friends. Hit the Lost Colony show that night...kids were bored to tears! :) Missed you this week.
Thanks, Lisa! I didn't have a tripod so we dragged some type of large box over from the side of the building. I also moved old movie theatre seats out of the way to make room. :)
Hope you're enjoying your trip!
the pictures are great!!!! my kiddos love the self timer too!!!! we are heading to the outer banks for a wedding in Sept...can't wait!!! 11 hour trip for us!!!
Great photos! We had a family picnic in Manteo very near the lighthouse when we were there in June. The kids had a ball playing there and it was so much fun to cookout. I just love that town!
