The Shark Shack

Where. The Joy of Love assignment today is Where. Where were you when your heart became his. This was so easy for me. I know exactly where....

Hawaii. O'ahu. The North Shore. The Shark Shack. On his bed. Just BSD. Me. And my friend Sheryl. Not Crow. Although I think she and I could be great friends.

Unfortunately, we couldn't get to Hawaii today. Or the North Shore. Or the Shark Shack. So our own bed will have to do.

This is how exactly how I remember it. Minus the sandy feet. Plus a few extra layers of clothing. Minus Sheryl.

BSD, Sheryl and I had just returned to the Shark Shack after a day at the beach. We were sandy. We were sunburned. We were pooped. We flopped down on BSD's bed. And laid on our backs for a long, long time. And just talked. And talked. All three of us. The conversation was so easy. It was so comfortable. Like three best friends.

Best friends.

That's when I realized it. I was with my best friend.
Having recently walked away from a relationship with someone who didn't know how to relax. Who was married to his job. Who wasn't there for me. This simple little moment was profound.

It's strange...but I think I had that moment with The Mr. after we were married. It's profound.

  6. geez, kim, your joy of love posts have been amazing! This story is so great - and your photos are even greater, LOVE them - how did you do them? Simple self timer? Holding camera above you? But they're so GOOD!!

Thanks for your kudos for the little bug - yes, our girls really would be fast friends - better make sure you bring them with you this summer when we go for that bike ride ;-) And, like you, I truly can't wait to see what she does with it all!

  7. Beautiful post! I love this. I did not do joy of LOVE today, but I probably should have. Instead I posted about my imperfections, and I really appreciate your comment. It's nice to know I am not alone in my feelings.

  18. Oh Kim, that is beautiful!!!! I thought of you yesterday, when I was on the North Shore. I have actually thought of you a lot this trip....wondering about all the little places I went, and if they were your favorites! :) I head home for Texas tonight. When I get home and get my thoughts collected, I will do a few vacation posts. My sister in law and I sat down last night to write out all the things we did and places we went, and it took up 5 pages of a small notepad! :))
